Honoring Jordan Coleman Jimerson: A Legacy of Light and Love
The “Remembering You 2” Scholarship has been created in memory of Jordan Coleman Jimerson, a remarkable individual whose life embodied excellence, compassion, and an unyielding dedication to uplifting others. Jordan was a proud graduate of Rutgers University and a devoted member of the Delta Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
Jordan’s journey at Rutgers was extraordinary. As a student-athlete, he earned a full-ride athletic scholarship as part of the Rutgers Track and Field team, showcasing his determination and discipline. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, later pursuing his passion for service by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Caldwell University. Jordan’s achievements were only matched by the depth of his character.
Tragically, Jordan passed away at just 25 years old due to epilepsy. While his life was cut short, Jordan’s essence continues to shine through the lives he touched. Beyond his accolades, Jordan was celebrated for his infectious positivity, his unwavering kindness, and his commitment to checking in on those around him. He was the kind of friend, brother, and leader who inspired others to be their best selves. His enduring legacy is encapsulated in the hashtag #LiveLikeJJ, a call to live with the same light, joy, and purpose Jordan brought to the world.
The “Remembering You 2” Scholarship not only honors Jordan’s incredible journey but also ensures his legacy lives on by empowering future generations of Rutgers students. The name reflects both Jordan’s impact and his position as the second initiate of the Fall 2016 line of the Delta Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha.
This scholarship seeks to achieve endowment status at Rutgers University, with a goal of raising $50,000. Though the journey to this milestone will take time, smaller awards will be granted annually until the endowment is reached. The first scholarship recipient will be announced during the 75th Anniversary Weekend of the Delta Iota Chapter, which will take place from June 6–8, 2025.
Through this initiative, we not only remember Jordan but also ensure that his heart for others, his desire to uplift, and his drive to make a positive difference will inspire countless students in the years to come.
